Clear liquid with a pungent odor, it is a linear 4-carbon oxo alcohol, it is useful as a chemical intermediate and as a solvent for dry environments and baking coatings, it is widely used for amino resins. It is also a very effective latent solvent for lacquers and enamels reducing viscosity and improving film flow and leveling.
