Colorless liquid slightly soluble in water but soluble in most organic solvents, with a branched chain of 8 carbons with a high boiling point and a slow evaporation rate, it has excellent reactivity as a chemical intermediate, it serves as a chain terminator in the synthesis of condensation polymers and plasticizers; improves the gloss and flow of glazes to be baked, another use is as a dispersing agent for pigment paste.
